Student Hubs both raises funds from donors and generates income through activities, such as events and conferences. We submit our annual accounts to the Charity Commission after our 31 July year-end. Student Hubs is a registered charity, number 1122328.

Donors

Our key donors are Barclays Capital and the Man Group plc Charitable Trust, both of which have supported Student Hubs since 2007. 

Over the past few years we have also received support from Accenture, Clifford Chance, private donors, and a number of trusts and foundations. These include the Garfield Weston Foundation, the P F Charitable Trust, Bailey Thomas Charitable Fund and Oxfordshire Community Foundation. The founders of Student Hubs were also awarded a Level 2 Award from UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs, in 2010.

Student Hubs conferences have received support from PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and many Colleges of the University of Oxford.

Locally, the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University give support to Oxford Hub and Brookes Hub, whilst the University of Cambridge's Societies Syndicate has contributed funds to Cambridge Hub. Oxford Hub is also supported by Oxfordshire County Council.

Generating funds

As of September 2011, Student Hubs moved their central office to a new multi-purpose venue in the centre of Oxford. This new building, operated by Student Hubs' sister social enterprise, houses a cafe-bar-restaurant, events and office space, and a resource library to support student social action. The various functions of the space - the cafe, renting out events space, office tenants - will generate funds which will begin to self-finance the charity. Our sister social enterprise is an asset-locked Community Interest Company, and Student Hubs is its "Community of Benefit". This means the way the business is set up directs any profit made towards the charity.
